Internship

Purpose:

A one or two year program designed to develop people and give them the opportunity to serve God and gain practical experience in all aspects of a Christian camping ministry. Meanwhile giving them the opportunity to develop their passions, gifts and abilities.

To partner with the staff at BMCR as a labor force who help carry out the needs of the ministry.

Requirements for Internship Program:

  • A born again follower of Jesus, growing in their relationship with Him, seeking His leading in their life.
  • Completed at least one year of bible school or enrolled at Arrowhead.
  • Completed the application process

Goals:

  • To help people develop in their spiritual walk
  • To train future camping leaders and ministry professionals
  • To develop leadership personnel in the various departments of BMCR:
    • Program
    • Administration
    • Facilities
    • Horsemanship
    • Kitchen

Expectations:

While interning at BMCR we highly discourage holding an outside job, due to our location there are limited opportunities for employment, and traveling to and from will require much time away from the program. Only under approved and unique situations will it be acceptable for an intern to have a job. We require 40 hours per week between the months of Sept.- May. And 50+ hours per week for June July and August. Each week you will be in class for a minimum of 2 hours and can expects 2-3 hours per week for class assignments. During this time you will be going over the broader issues of Christian camping. The rest of your time will be in the area of your choosing and be filled with hands on and additional training in that department. All time off must be approved by your immediate supervisor and by the Program Director or Camp Director. You will be expected to have a personal devotional time each day. Understanding that this is a one year program we have it figured out at a 52 weeks with 4 weeks off. The remaining 48 weeks will be divided into 4 quarters. This will give you two weeks over Christmas and two weeks for personal time off.

Pay:

All intern positions will be required to raise support for the duration of their internship. Each intern will need to raise a minimum of $300.00 per month. There will be taxes and workmen comp. Paid out of this amount and the remainder will be paid to you at the end of each month, any additional money raised will be treated the same. We will provide room and board.

Overview of the program (12 weeks per quarter):

  • 1st Quarter
    • Assesment - DISK profile, department placement
    • Spiritual growth - devotional life, journaling, mentorship
    • Begin educational process- staff "buy in", summer staff recruitment, underage staff
    • Orientation to the ministry of BMCR, staff conflict, leadership structure
  • 2nd Quarter
    • Evaluation of 1st quarter
    • Continue spiritual growth, spiritual gifts inventory
    • Continue Educational process - start leadership project, and program projects, working with state agencies, insurance issues and coverage, budgeting
  • 3rd Quarter
    • Evaluation and document development, set goals for 3rd and 4th quarter
    • Continue spiritual growth, identify areas of increased authority
    • Continue educational process - camp structure, small to large, rural vs. metropolitan, departments within a structure
  • 4th Quarter
    • Evaluation
    • Continue spiritual growth
    • Finish educational process
